Medical Careers (Prerequisite)

Course Description:
This course provides students with an introduction to the health care industry and the many
career opportunities within it. Students will gain foundational knowledge in medical
terminology, anatomy and physiology, infection control, vital signs, patient care skills, ethical
and legal responsibilities, and workplace professionalism. The course emphasizes hands-on
practice, problem-solving, and social skill development to prepare students for entry-level
positions and further training in health-related fields. Through classroom instruction, laboratory
practice, and work-based learning experiences, students will explore pathways such as nursing,
physical therapy, emergency medical technician and more.

Sports Medicine

Sports Medicine and Therapy (Capstone)


Course Description:

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of athletic training, injury prevention,
rehabilitation, and therapeutic careers in health care. Students will study anatomy and
physiology, mechanisms of common sports injuries, first aid/CPR, taping and bracing
techniques, therapeutic modalities, and rehabilitation exercises. Emphasis is placed on
developing hands-on skills, problem-solving, and teamwork while maintaining safety and
professionalism in a health care setting. Through classroom instruction, laboratory practice, and
possible work-based learning experiences, students will explore career pathways in sports
medicine, physical therapy, athletic training, occupational therapy, and related health fields.
